Motor and potentiometer circuit help
Hello,
This must come across as a very novice question but I would be very greatful for any advice on the following circuit. I studied GCSE electronics but have had little practice since and am now rather rusty...
I need to find out how/in what manner to connect the following components:
A potentiometer
A motor
A 3v power source
A flashing LED (with built in IC(?) flasher - looks like a normal LED with one short leg denoting the cathode)
The function of the components is as follows:
The pot. adjusts the speed of the motor, from 'off' to full speed / max current.
When the pot. is turned 'on' and then up, the LED begins to flash.
As I understand it, the circuit should be something like the following:
Power source connects to the pot.
The pot. connects to the motor with the LED in the middle of this connection.
The motor earth connects to the power source.
Where I am confused is 'which way round' (poss/neg leads) all the components should go. I am also confused by the third leg (which I understand is the wiper) of the pot and where to connect it to.
So essentially, I think, I know how the circuit should look, I'm just not sure which connection should go where!
Any help or even a wiring diagram would be much very greatfully received.
Thanks for your time,
George

Re: Motor and potentiometer circuit help
Not enough information !
How much current does the motor take ?
It could be a potentiometer wont drive a motor and might need buffering.
