Turntable motor problem
Turntable motor problem
Hi my first post. I did not get any response on hi-fi forums to this question.
I have a problem with the 12v DC motor on my Ariston Pro Record Deck spinnng way too fast since I tested it with a universal DC power supply. This wrong power supply also drove the motor in reverse. Using the correct PSU restored the direction but the speed is just manic. The 33/45 switch now has no visible affect on the speed.
The Pro is a simple manual deck with no circuitry outside the motor on this deck is sealed and I have probably blown it's regulator. I can not trace a replacement motor so far (Ariston went out of business long ago). As the motor is still working can I buy or make a suitable speed control? I know there are loads of motors in Maplin and on ebay but I do not have a clue which one I should buy as a replacement. I do not trust the staff in Maplin to give me the correct advice.
Thanks for any advice.
