Constructing an LED lamp from scratch.

Hey all,

I wish to construct a lamp (table lamp style) using bright/spotlight LEDs.

Can you kindly explain and give me a circuit diagram of how to go about it using mains voltage and if necessary using a transformer?

Can you also tell me if I need to be aware of any safety measures and types of LEDs to purchase?

led is nothing but a ordinsry diode.it works onlyin the forward biasing.u should connect diode in the forwad bias to the voltage source.
