Other combinations don't show anything

That seems a bit high for a normal ammeter

I think I am going to leave it as it is, it works so there shouldn't be any problems.

Someone suggested me that if I had two batteries 18V would be better, but I have no idea in what way would this be better, would you maybe know what difference would this make?
