PCB manufacture cost

hello

i created a gerber file with 4 diffrent pcb's on the panel. i did this in eagle.
i have no idea how to specify v grooving so i outlined the pcbs with the dimention layer at 0 width.

i am wondering if anyone here has manufatured multiple pcbs on a single panel before? Did they do the vgrooving ( or mouse bites) and which company did they use?

i emailed one company with this interest, they emailed me back to say each additional pcb (over 2) on the panel costs extra, as does the v grooving, if i can't do it myself. So i know the cost will be allot more than the online quote i made.

maybe someone can help?

thanks for reading.

Hi,

Do you need this supplied as a single panel with v-grooves, or could they be routed apart by the manufacturer and supplied as 4 individual boards? I've had panels of 4 or 5 prototype boards made by PCB Pool before, they separated them for me - I think there was a 10 euro routing charge on top of the basic cost of the panel.

I've also had v-grooved boards made by Zot Engineering, although these were a panel of 30 or so of the same small board, allowing them to be populated before separating. Zot would change a setup fee though, so only viable for reasonable quantities, not one-offs.

hi simon.

thanks for your reply.

i am still trying to find the cheapest option/fab house. im waiting on replys at the moment.

i would like v grooves , (ive inluded a pic below) i was told that the L shaped board would not be
vgrooved as it was not rectangle. so i made a rectangle milling layer (layer 46 in eagle)around it , so at least I could have it cut out a bit, so then i can hack saw it at home. I really wanted to have the L shape board routed or with mouse bites but I was told the panel was too big by one fabhouse and they again suggested i have all of them done on seperate jobs. they were very keen for this (owch)

ive emailed wedirekt,de as they had a good price on a mutliple panel option , but i was unsure if all pcbs had to be the same . so im waiting on a reply from them.

i shall email pcbpool, thanks. for 1 panel they do a good price ,it seems the second panel is the same price as the first however, so a bit expensive ( i do need two of these)

heres the pic. im not sure if i left enough room around the edge or between pcbs? one house said the margins needed work and would cost extra. Lol not an easy stage.

thanks for reading : )

I found a pcb board house that will take multiple designs on a single panel and route out shapes too.
In my design i hoped for the L shape board to be routed, i also wanted the little notches routed also.
they actually emailed me, to ask if i would like them routed with 'tabs' , or did i specifically want rectangles?
So I hope i can name drop here , Wedirekt.de is a good place to go.
