Rapidly Reverse Electromagnet Polarity.

I have ZERO knowledge of electronics and have posted this question in many places on the net. Unfortunately, I upset the experts because I do not seem to be able to express my needs correctly.
I always feel the question is clear but I receive a flood of questions (inductance, current et cetera) which I cannot answer.
So . . . Without intending to upset anyone . . .

I would like to be able to rapidly reverse the polarity of two horse shoe shaped electromagnets at the same time. From 1 change a second up to (possibly) scores of times a second.

The problem is, the magnet "power" or size, or whatever is not really (at this stage) important but I would say magnets about 2 or 3 inches long would suffice.

In the last forum I posted I received a huge reponse but no one could really help. However, one person suggested Picaxe and it looks to my untrained eye like this might be a possibility.

Any ideas, please?

What are you trying to achieve?
Will something simple like a 50hZ supply work and just reduce the voltage?

As I explained, I know nothing of the basics.
ANY means of eapidly reversing the polarity of ANY two electromagnets (2 or 3 inches long) by a controlled method between 2 and 50 times a second.
I have posted poads of times and just get asked questions which I'm afraid I can't answer.
As long as I can achieve the above I will be happy.
Thanks for your contact.

You can use a dual switch for lower frequency, to do it faster you need some sort of osscilator (never could spell mabe I will be lucky) circuit. lots of ways of doing it.

What is it for?

If you answer the question we will understand how to move forward.
