Cheap 12v power supply 60 amp+
Cheap 12v power supply 60 amp+
Hi to all
I am trying to rig up a cheap bench tester to supply 12v DC at up to 60 amps (or perhaps a bit more) I can get my hands on an old mig welder which has a huge transformer inside unfortunately its 230v AC in - 14v AC out rated at 130 amps. If I could convert the AC output to DC that would do the job. Any help or ideas would be much appreciated
TIA

If you are familiar with transformers then you may try using a transformer of scrapped Micro Wave Oven.
You should be very careful, Microwave Oven Transformer (MOT) gives around 400 Amperes!!!
You may google for Microwave Oven Transformer

How about a 60w 12v supply used for 3 halogen ceiling lights?
AC yes but a few diodes out of an old car alternator might suffice?

ur transfomer is prefect get alot of power diodes eg stuffed computer psu etc rig it all soo its all in parellel this makes all the diodes carry the hudge current load use datasheet arcive to find specs on it all ull need a hudge cap or loads in parellel to smoth the dc ripple at hudge current drains now u need to use a 3 teminal re4gulator witch be bought at ur local electronics store be a 78** or 79** the dif between the two is wether it - to ground or + to ground now all u need to do is made a current carrying transistor cct to pass all this curent id google psu cct and other seaches of this nature and ull learn how to put ur cct together
