12V to 6V Voltage Regulator

Post by Garyww » Fri Jul 20, 2012 12:17 pm

I'm a beginner with electronics. I'm trying to build a voltage drop regulator for my trail cam. The trail cam is 6V DC and I want to hook up a 12V DC to it so it will last longer. I have a NTE956 voltage regulator, 120K OHM, and 470 OHM resistor for my circuit. My board diagram shows two capacitor but no value. Any ideals on what two capacitors I need?
If anybody has a better way of doing it I'm open to suggestion.

Something like a 0.1uF on the input and a 10uF electrolytic on the output but a lot depends on were your 12V is coming from and how much current you are pulling. Have a look at the LM317 series, a lot more popular and loads of information available.
