Beginner needs help

I am a student of electronics. Can anyone please tell me how to start deciding how to design a circuit when given a problem statement? I know which components to use, but how do I decide the value of the resistors, capacitors, etc to use in the circuit? Please help.

Study electronics for a bit longer then you will know how to determine component values.

Have you tried using circuit simulation software? This can be a great help as you can play with the values and get a good feel for what will work.
