Remote hearing!

Post by drawstop » Wed May 29, 2013 9:52 am

I have a problem in that I am a carer for a disabled friend who sleeps a great deal. I play the electronic organ (always on cans so I do not disturb him) and we live in a flat with a door-phone. Is there an electronic mic/wifi that I could hang on the door-phone that would transmit to a receiver with a line input that I could feed into the organ mixer? I would then hear the entry phone whilst I am playing. At the moment I do not and this causes problems in that Steve has to struggle to make me hear I am wanted. Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Many thanks to everyone.
Richard.

A tie clip radio microphone might be an idea?

These are what presenters attach to their ties when giving speeches etc.

The very small mic and tie clip could be attached to your entry system to pick up the sound of the bell- as well as any other sounds (your friend calling perhaps?) around. This is connected to a small transmitter pack which usually runs on a pp3 battery or two- but you maybe be able to get a mains pack to run it off the mains?
The receiver would sit near your mixer and the line in connected in the usuall way .
Professional tie clip mics can cost all sorts of prices in the hundreds, but if you scout around Ebay and electronic specialist shops they can be got from around £15 to £50 .

Hi, there may be a device to expand the number of phono outputs from the organ, a one to two expansion thingi, it has one input (from the organ) and two outputs. It is theoreticaly poss to run one of the outputs as in input, plug the intercom system into that.

Be carefull this may damage the organ amp, speshly at high volume... should be ok but take advice.

It is a simple matter to design a digi box to switch the organ off (phono only) when the intercom is powered up (if need be).
