Laser Printer HL-2280DW Voltage Transformer
Laser Printer HL-2280DW Voltage Transformer
Hi everybody, this is my first topic.
I live in Salford, Greater Manchester, I'm Italian but I was born in Argentina. I'm 62 years old. I apologize for my English (Google help mi a lot!).
I like to fix computers, and I like electronic, but I do not know much about.
My question:
A friend gave me a new (never used) brother laser printer, HL-2280DW. I read that is a good printer for home, but it work with 110/120 Volts.
I need to decide if I should buy a new printer or if the printer can work well with a voltage transformer ();
if the transformer works well,
I need help for search the right transformer online:
1_ Values which are compatible and safe (above all whit me and my house),
2_How to I can search for a silent transformer. I need a quiet transformer but in many models I have not seen any indication about
I've been looking online, but I stopped the search because I lack knowledge.
Printer Model: Brother HL-2280DW
Prynter Type: Laser Monochrome
Scanner: Color/Mono
Printer Method: Electrophotography by semiconductor laser beam scanninng
Power Source: 110 - 120 V AC 50/60 Hz
Power Consumption:
Amperes: 8.9 A
Peak: 1080 Watts (USB connected to PC)
Copying: 445 Watts (When making a copy from one sheet)
Ready: 55 Watts
Wireless: WLAN ON: 2.8 Watts (Sleep) / WLAN OFF: 1.0 Watts (Deep Sleep)
All figures staded above (except Peak) are average figures
Thank you in advanced

Re: Laser Printer HL-2280DW Voltage Transformer
The transformer that springs to mind is one of the yellow brick transformers as found on building sites, a 2kva ought to be able to deliver 1kw at 110v continuously. As for whether or not your printer is suitable for centre tapped earth is another matter.
Is the power supply built into the printer or is it external?

Hi, Thank you for your reply
I think I saw a voltage transformer as you describe in a building site.
The power supply of my printer is internal, but, how can I to know if it is suitable or not for centre tapped earth ? . I don't know what it is, I was looking in internet but I don't understand electronic technical language...
Thanks again

The center tap gives 2 poss outputs each 110V, you could run 2 printers or 1 with this.

Hi,
I could understand your advice, I did a search on the web and I bought the ELC T-3000 3000w voltage transformer. The printer works great.
Thank you very much for your advice, it has been very useful to me.
