Controlling a motor and a 3 axis gimbal for a cable cam.
Hi there.
Im currently doing my major project for my course at university (Product Design and Manufacture MEng at Nottingham), and I have been designing a wifi controlled cable camera setup for a gopro camera to be used for sports such as mountain biking and skiing.
My design allows an app to control the motor which drives the rig in both directions along a wire/rope which is suspended between trees or stationary objects, as well as controlling the camera position via the gimbal.
My course has taught me much about materials and manufacturing processes but little about electronics, so I would like some help on what parts would be most appropriate to make the system work. In short I would like to know how I could power both an electric motor and a gimbal from the same battery, while controlling them both from an app on a phone or tablet. If anyone also has any suggestions to actual parts that I could purchase to allow me to build this that would be very helpful - I have access to 3D printing facilities that would let me prototype my injection moulded parts that would house the electronics.
Many thanks for reading and in advance for any help you can offer - feel free to message me for any further info/a better insight into the project.
