Identify this component

Post by beelady4444 » Mon Jun 15, 2015 9:22 am

Can anybody please help. I have a blown component in my motor speed control box. It is used to power an electric honey extractor and I am lost without it. I have included an image of the component in question. It is between the diode and the wire wound resistor. It looks to be an old RS component but I have had no luck with trawling the internet with the specified values. The writing on it is 1ROJ which I believe may just be a part number, and E79E. If anyone can help and perhaps let me know what I would replace this with I can get on with extracting the honey that my bees have spent all Spring collecting. Thank you in advance for your time.

The top one is a diode, and the bottom ones a resistor.
I don't know the codes.
Try googling the numbers/letters.

A 1.5 Kohm resistor can be written 1R5K.

I just moved the picture and there are 2 components below, both are resistors. Which component do you need to identify?

It could well be a one ohm resistor. There are several resistor codes - one has a number, followed by "R", and then a number which refers to the number of zeros after the first number. In this case, 1 followed by no zeros. 47R3 in this particular code would be 47,000 ohms, and so on.
"J" could be tolerance - often 5% for small wirewounds. Hope this helps. Difficult to be more certain without having a look at where it appears in the circuit.
