Moped Horn on a Bicycle

Post by Bugner » Wed Feb 17, 2010 1:29 pm

Hi, I want to install a moped horn on my bicycle as my commute in London is a daily run the gaunlet and a bell just doens't cut it. I haven't got the first clue about electronics, so apologies for my ignorance.

I have done some research and I think that I will need a 12v moped horn, a waterproof momentary push switch, reachargable waterproof battery (I presume 12 volts), wiring and connectors.

I am not sure of ampage etc and how much a moped horn would drain the batteries, so any advice on components and how to actaully wire this up would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Why not go for a twin car horn instead, that will puzzle em?

Get a 12v lead acid battery from somewhere like Maplins of a size you can fit on your bike somewhere, plus a suitable press button and cable . Make up a container that will keep it dry and secure, put a hidden master switch and fuse breaker in it, so that you can turn it off when you park up.. and the fuse wil blow if you short out, and your away.

the great thing about the lead acid battery is you can either buy a charger for it, or use your daddy's car battery charger (as long as its modern) to keep it charged up
