Post by Vincewrd » Fri May 30, 2014 5:12 pm

Hi all I fix iPhones and a few screens are effected by static so I now have a esd mat which a metal popper that attaches to a wrist band but do I need to ground the mat to a power outlet earth? Or is it ok just to use the Matt with the wrist strap thanks

You need to ground the mat to a power outlet earth via a 1M resistor. Best to use one of these.

Most mats I've seen have two bonding posts.

If you got the earth bonding plug as suggested and your mains outlet is near by you could connect your mat and wrist strap to that.
